A new website has been launched to help schools and colleges deliver impartial and independent careers guidance under the 2011 Education Act.
MyCareerSpringboard.org is a free service that aims to provide impartial advice as new measures have resulted in schools tapping stretched budgets to meet the costs of careers provision.
Jack Denton, co-founder of parent site AllAboutCareers.com, explained: “The Education Act 2011 has placed huge pressure on schools to provide independent careers advice. Unfortunately, this can be costly. MyCareerSpringboard.org addresses both these problems: it’s designed to help schools educate pupils about their career options without having to dip into their budgets.”
The site contains an interactive career test and exploration tools to assist learners in finding job paths that best match their personality, skills and interests. It also has downloadable lesson plans and industry guides to help teachers effectively deliver the guidance.
I am not, and never have been, a careers adviser so I can't speak for the validity of the tools available.
